History - Origins of CROP

A working party met in 1994 to consider the need for a free advocacy service for people over 60 years of age in the Maidstone area.

The working party included:-

• Age Concern
• Kent County Council Social Services
• West Malling Volunteer Bureau

It was concluded that there was a desperate need for a free confidential service.

The Maidstone office was opened in 1994 providing this free advocacy service using volunteer advocates.

2000 - Ashford Office Opened

2002 - Canterbury Office Opened
