The State Retirement Pension
State Revenue Payment is paid to people of pensionable age, currently this is 60 for women and 65 for men. Women born before 1950 will still be able to claim a pension at 60, after 2010 this will be increased to 65.
The basic pension is paid on a sliding scale dependent on a number of years of contributions paid to everyone who qualifies in their own right. A reduced rate is paid to a wife who has relied on her husband’s contributions. A small additional amount is paid to those over 80. You can apply to the pensions benefit for a forecast prior to pensionable age
