We are a charity whose aim is to improve the lives of older people residing in Canterbury and surrounding villages.
Six days a week our three mini-buses make twenty two trips out to collect frail older people to bring them in to the centre for day care.
We provide a variety of social day care services and facilities including hairdressing, toenail cutting, lunches, advice and information, help with form filling, art classes and a quiet room with a library where we hold weekly Holy Communion and computer lessons.
As well as the main room which doubles as a dining and entertainment room we also have a drop-in café area.
On three days a week we open our separate dementia day care facility which is known as The Collins Unit.
Both our dementia care support workers and our care navigator visit people in their own homes to give information, choices and support.

Age Concern Whitstable is able to offer day care in a purpose built facility that is able to provide for the needs of both the able bodied and those with a level of physical or cognitive impairment. Transport, subject to availability can be provided using fully adapted vehicles with tail lifts.
Our aim is to provide a day centre that includes midday meal (cooked in our own kitchen) and a level of activities including outings that will enhance the day and benefit the user. The level at which our users wish to be involved is a matter of personal preference, some people just enjoy the opportunity to meet friends and chat.
If you wish to know more for either yourself or a relative or friend please do not hesitate to contact the day centre manager to arrange either to visit us to look round or for a home visit to discuss this matter further. There is a charge for this but we always aim to keep this at an affordable level.
All users have access to a registered Chiropodist who attends the day centre on a self employed basis (there is a charge for this service).
