Canterbury City Council provides the Concessionary Travel Scheme for Kent and Medway which allows free local bus travel.
Who is eligible?
Residents of the Canterbury District (this includes Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable) who are:
Age 60 or over
or
Registered as disabled
A bus pass to include a companion is available for residents who are claiming because of a disability and are unable to travel alone because of their disability.

What does it entitle you to?
Free travel throughout Kent and Medway on off peak buses (after 9am Monday to Friday and all day during the weekends and the bank holiday).
From April 2008 the free travel scheme will become nationwide allowing pass holders to use their passes on bus services across England.
How can you apply?
There are various ways to apply for the free bus permit:

Along with completed applications, you will need to attach two passport size photographs, photocopies of your proof of age or disability and proof of residence within the Canterbury City Council district to your form. If you send the original documents to us, we will return them to you with your permit. However, we cannot be held responsible for their loss and strongly advise you to send photocopies.
